Skye Romer
Enrolled Nurse
NSWNMA Branch Secretary and Delegate (2019 - current)
NSWNMA member SESLHD JCC
I’m very excited to be a candidate for the NSWNMA council.
I’ve been a Mental Health Nurse for 10 years. I’ve worked in several roles across child and adolescent, young adult, and adult acute inpatient mental health wards, both in the public and private hospital system.
I joined the NSWNMA as a newly registered EN. As my experience increased, I was faced with the day-to-day challenges of working in an under-resourced health system, experiencing violence and aggression at work, navigating the flawed worker’s compensation system, and the stark reality that nurses and midwives across the state experience these issues. I felt outraged and I knew it was time to challenge the status quo.
I’m a passionate NSWNMA member, campaigning for a safe and sustainable healthcare system, wage justice and shift-by-shift ratios in every hospital, ward, and community setting, country, and city.
Rain, hail, pandemic, or shine, I’m committed to fighting for the safety of our patients/consumers, and for all nurses and midwives who are the backbone of our public health system.
